Overview

AppBoost Remarketing is the re-targeting layer for marketing and product teams who want to reach people who already interacted with a link, an app or a campaign. It fires ad-network pixels from Short Links and Micro Pages, syncs app segments to Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Google Ads and Snapchat audiences, and re-targets by push, SMS or email.

Key facts

Link remarketing pixels
Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Google Ads, Snapchat, LinkedIn
Audience sync
Facebook and Instagram, X (Twitter), Google Ads, Snapchat
Per-link control
Remarketing can be enabled or disabled on each link
App user identification
IDFA or Advertiser ID, and email
Email list sync
Mailchimp audience list, on app install
SDK setup time
5-10 minutes for most mobile SDKs

The problem

Warm audiences go cold after the first click

Visitors open a link, users install an app or open a push, and then nothing brings them back. Remarketing keeps that warm audience reachable, on the ad networks and on your own channels.

Capabilities

What Remarketing includes

  • Link remarketing

Re-target visitors as soon as they open any AppBoost marketing link. It is built into Short Links and Micro Pages and can be enabled or disabled on each link.

  • Ad pixel tracking

Link remarketing integrates with the tracking pixels of Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Google Ads, Snapchat and LinkedIn, so link visitors build ad audiences automatically.

  • Automatic audience sync

Sync user segments to custom audience lists on Facebook and Instagram, X (Twitter), Google Ads and Snapchat.

  • App remarketing

Re-target app users as soon as they install. The AppBoost SDK identifies users by IDFA or Advertiser ID and by email, so segments can be matched on ad networks.

  • Re-target by message

Reach app users by plain or deep-linked SMS, deep-linked email, or push, including video, GIF, YouTube and HTML rich push.

  • Mailchimp sync

When a user installs your app, their email is added to your Mailchimp audience list, so email marketing starts from the same user base.

  • Campaign remarketing

Re-target users who opened a push campaign or completed a conversion action from it, such as a purchase, without rebuilding the audience by hand.

  • Pixel installation guides

Step-by-step guides cover the Facebook, X (Twitter) and Google Ads pixels. Add the pixel ID once in project settings, then activate it per Smart Deep Link.

How it works

How Remarketing works

  1. 1

Create the pixel in the ad network

Generate the Facebook, X (Twitter) or Google Ads pixel and copy its ID from Events Manager, Conversion Tracking or Audience Manager.

  2. 2

Add the ID to project settings

In the AppBoost dashboard, open project settings, Integrations, and paste the pixel ID into the matching tracking ID field.

  3. 3

    Activate pixels on your links

When you publish a Smart Deep Link, activate the pixels you want it to fire. Remarketing is switched on per link.

  4. 4

    Build and sync a segment

Create a segment from user profiles, link conversions or a push campaign, then sync it to the ad network audience or Mailchimp list.

  5. 5

    Re-target on your own channels

Send the segment a push, SMS or email that deep links to the right screen in your app.

Who it is for

Who uses Remarketing

For marketing managers

Reach the people you have already paid to acquire by turning links, installs and campaign engagement into ad audiences.

  • Build ad audiences from link opens through pixels on your Short Links
  • Sync app segments to Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Google Ads and Snapchat
  • Keep the Mailchimp list current with new installs
  • Choose remarketing per link

For product managers

Use the same user profile and SDK identifiers for messaging and paid re-targeting, so audiences reflect real in-app behavior.

  • SDK-based identification by advertiser ID and email
  • Segments defined on in-app events and attributes
  • Deep-linked re-target messages back into the app
  • Pixel IDs configured once in project settings

Frequently asked questions

Remarketing FAQ

What is the difference between link and app remarketing?
Link remarketing targets people who opened an AppBoost Short Link or Micro Page, using ad-network pixels. App remarketing targets users who installed your app, identified through the SDK by advertiser ID and email, and reaches them by SMS, email or push.
Which ad networks are supported?
Link remarketing integrates with pixels from Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Google Ads, Snapchat and LinkedIn. App segments sync automatically to custom audience lists on Facebook and Instagram, X (Twitter), Google Ads and Snapchat.
What engineering work is required?
Link remarketing needs no code, only pixel IDs in project settings. App remarketing needs the AppBoost SDK, which takes 5-10 minutes to install for most mobile platforms, so the SDK can identify users by advertiser ID and email.
Can I turn remarketing off for some links?
Yes. Link remarketing can be enabled or disabled at the level of each link, so you can keep it on for paid campaign links and off for links where you do not want visitors added to ad audiences.
How does it fit with Audiences and messaging?
Audiences defines the segments, and Remarketing pushes them to ad networks or Mailchimp. Omni-channel Messaging and Marketing Automation then re-target the same segments by push, SMS or email, so one segment serves paid and owned channels.
