The problem

The most-used chat app is hard to run as a business channel

The standard WhatsApp Business app is limited to one device, basic automation and no API access. Teams outgrow it quickly, and picking the wrong setup leads to blocked numbers, manual work and no reporting.

Capabilities

What WhatsApp Marketing includes

  • Official Business API

Send through the WhatsApp Business API, built for medium and large businesses. It handles large message volumes and gives full API access for custom integrations.

  • Green tick verification

Apply for an Official Business Account so your business name appears instead of a phone number. Meta reviews each request and the process usually takes at least two months.

  • WhatsApp Lite for fast starts

Link a personal number by scanning a QR code and send without template approval. It suits OTP codes and limited campaigns of 100-300 messages a day.

  • Rich media

The Business API supports interactive buttons and catalogs. WhatsApp Lite sends text, images, documents, audio and video.

  • Workflow integration

The Business API supports workflow integration, so routine replies and follow-ups no longer depend on an agent typing every message.

  • Multi-agent and CRM ready

Several agents can manage conversations at once, and the API connects to your CRM. You are no longer tied to a single phone.

  • Delivery and read reports

Business API messages come with detailed delivery and read reports rather than basic read receipts, so you can see what arrived and what was opened.

  • Twilio option

Already have a Twilio account? Enter its Account SID, Auth Token and sender number under Advanced Settings, then retarget users on WhatsApp.

How it works

How WhatsApp Marketing works

  1. 1

Choose the channel that fits your volume

Use the Business API for automation, multiple agents and scale. Use WhatsApp Lite for OTPs or a limited daily campaign.

  2. 2

    Prepare a clean phone number

Use a number that has never been registered with WhatsApp for the Business API, or a new, unused number with a good reputation for Lite. A verified Meta account is optional.

  3. 3

    Activate or link the channel

For the Business API, Appgain activates the number, usually within one business day. For Lite, open Omni-channels, choose WhatsApp Lite, add a channel and scan the QR code.

  4. 4

    Test, then scale

Send a test message, start with a small audience and monitor delivery. Upgrade from Lite to the Business API when volume or automation needs grow.

Frequently asked questions

WhatsApp Marketing FAQ

What is the difference between the Business API and WhatsApp Lite?
The Business API is the official channel for medium and large businesses, with automation, multi-agent access, CRM integration and detailed reports. WhatsApp Lite uses a personal number linked by QR code, needs manual management and suits small volumes such as OTPs.
What do I need to activate the Business API?
You need a mobile number that has never been registered with WhatsApp. A verified Meta account is recommended but optional. Setup typically takes one business day after all required information is provided.
Do I need the green tick?
No. Without a verified Meta account you can still use every Business API feature, but the number appears under a default name format rather than only your brand. Green tick verification is a separate service and Meta approval usually takes at least two months.
What are the risks of WhatsApp Lite?
Lite offers no service guarantee, and WhatsApp can block the number at any time without refunds. It also needs frequent QR code scanning and manual monitoring. Guidance is 100-300 messages per day, so treat it as a small-scale option.
Can I use my Twilio account?
Yes. In Project Settings, Advanced Setting, Platforms, choose the Twilio vendor, set the type to WHATSAPP-TWILIO and enter your Account SID, Auth Token and sender number with country code. Users must first message the Twilio number to join.
How does WhatsApp fit with other AppBoost channels?
WhatsApp is part of the Omni-channels area of AppBoost, alongside push, web push, SMS and email. You configure each channel once, then use the ones that suit each audience and message type.
