Overview

AppBoost Omni-channel Messaging is the campaign layer for marketing and product teams who message users on push, WhatsApp, SMS, email and web push. It lets you create a campaign once or on a schedule, send it to all users, a segment or one user, and read delivery, open and conversion results in the same place.

Key facts

Channels
Push, WhatsApp, SMS, email, web push
Delivery modes
One-time or recurring, time zone sensitive
Targeting
All users, a segment, or a single user
Personalization
Template variables written as $varname
Analytics export
Excel and CSV
SDK setup time
5-10 minutes for most mobile SDKs

The problem

Each channel runs as its own project

When push, SMS, email and WhatsApp live in separate tools, audiences drift apart, the same user is messaged twice and nobody can compare channels. Omni-channel Messaging puts campaign creation, targeting and reporting in one workspace.

Capabilities

What Omni-channel Messaging includes

  • Create once, send on schedule

Send a campaign a single time or set it to repeat. Scheduling is time zone sensitive, so users in different regions receive the message at their own local time.

  • Flexible targeting

Send in bulk to all users, to a saved segment, or one-to-one to a specific user. The same audience definitions are reused across every channel.

  • Rich push formats

Choose text, video, YouTube, GIF, HTML, WebView or silent push. Add emoji, a custom sound, and a call to action that opens a URL, Smart Link, Micro Page or app deep link.

  • Interactive and rich SMS

Send plain SMS, interactive SMS with Short Links that open a screen in the app, or rich SMS with Micro Pages. Upload a CSV of mobile numbers as a target list.

  • Email from your own templates

Send text or HTML email with a subject line. Reuse HTML templates designed in Mailchimp or any other tool, with personalization variables filled per recipient.

  • WhatsApp and web push

Reach customers on WhatsApp Business API or WhatsApp Lite, and on the browser through web push, from the same campaign workspace as your other channels.

  • Templates and personalization

Save notification, SMS and email templates and add variables such as $varname so each recipient sees their own content. Push also supports multi-language text based on device language.

  • Per-campaign analytics

Track sent and failed by platform, received, dismissed, opened and converted, with real-time conversion tracking and campaign revenue tracking. Export results to Excel or CSV.

How it works

How Omni-channel Messaging works

  1. 1

    Connect your app and channels

Install the AppBoost SDK for push, and activate the messaging channels you plan to use. Most mobile SDKs take 5-10 minutes to install.

  2. 2

    Choose the audience

Target every user, a saved segment, or a single user. Respect opt-in and opt-out preferences that users set per channel.

  3. 3

    Compose from a template

Write the message or pick a saved template, add personalization variables and set the call to action or link destination.

  4. 4

    Schedule delivery

Send now, schedule once, or repeat on a recurring schedule, with time zone sensitive delivery for international audiences.

  5. 5

    Measure and re-target

Review delivery, open and conversion results, export them, and re-target users who opened or converted from the campaign.

Who it is for

Who uses Omni-channel Messaging

For marketing managers

Run every channel from one calendar and compare results without stitching exports together from separate tools.

  • Launch and schedule campaigns without engineering tickets
  • Reuse templates and audiences across channels
  • Compare sent, open and conversion results per campaign
  • Re-target users who opened or converted

For product managers

Keep messaging tied to app behavior and deep links so a message lands users on the right screen, not the home page.

  • Deep link, Smart Link and Micro Page destinations
  • Silent push to update app data in the background
  • Per-channel opt-in and opt-out through the SDK
  • Conversion actions reported back by the SDK

Use cases

Omni-channel Messaging use cases

  • 01

    Product launch announcement

Schedule a rich push with video, follow with an email using your HTML template, and send SMS to numbers on an uploaded target list.

  • 02

    Regional flash sale

Send the same offer to segments in different countries so each group receives it at its own local time.

  • 03

    Re-engage non-openers

Re-target users who dismissed or ignored a push campaign with a different channel or message.

  • 04

    Silent data refresh

Use silent push to update app data in the background without showing a notification to the user.

Frequently asked questions

Omni-channel Messaging FAQ

Which channels does AppBoost Omni-channel Messaging cover?
It covers app push notifications, WhatsApp (Business API and WhatsApp Lite), SMS, email and web push. Campaigns for all of these are created and scheduled from the AppBoost dashboard, with audiences and templates shared across channels.
Can I schedule campaigns for different time zones?
Yes. Campaigns can be sent once or recurrently, and delivery is time zone sensitive, so users in different time zones receive the campaign according to their own local time instead of one fixed moment.
What can I measure for a campaign?
For push, you see sent and failed per platform, received, dismissed, opened and converted, where conversion is an action reported by the SDK. Real-time conversion tracking and campaign revenue tracking are available, and results export to Excel or CSV.
How much engineering effort does it need?
Push needs the AppBoost SDK, which takes 5-10 minutes to install for most mobile platforms. After that, marketers create and schedule campaigns in the dashboard, and product teams only need to keep the SDK current.
How does it work with audiences and automation?
Campaigns target the segments you build in Audiences, so one definition serves every channel. Automation journeys use the same channels to send behavior-based messages, while Omni-channel Messaging handles planned, scheduled campaigns.
Can messages be personalized per user?
Yes. Add a variable such as $varname to a push, SMS or email template and it is filled per recipient. Push text and titles can also be sent in several languages, chosen by the device language.
