Overview

AppBoost Audiences is the profile and segmentation layer for marketing and product teams who need to know who their users are and target them precisely. It provides rich user profiles with a timeline, filters on install date, last seen, LTV and last event, and saved past-behavior or live segments you can target in-app, on ad networks and in Mailchimp.

The problem

Campaigns target everyone because segments are hard to build

When user data is scattered, teams settle for broad sends. Audiences keeps one detailed profile per user and lets marketers define segments from behavior and attributes without waiting for a data request.

Capabilities

What Audiences includes

  • Rich user profiles

Open any user to see their data in detail, with simple analytics, including install date, last seen, location, device, orders and lifetime value.

  • Filters on behavior

Filter users by app install date, last seen, LTV, last event and other attributes, then save the result as a segment for targeting.

  • User timeline

Follow what a user has done from the moment they install your app, so support and marketing can see the sequence behind a purchase or a churn.

  • Past-behavior segments

Group users by actions they took before, such as everyone who launched the app in the last ten days, using one event or a mix of events and properties.

  • Live segments

Define criteria once and AppBoost adds or removes users the moment their behavior matches, including inaction such as not using the app for a set period.

  • Segments from where you work

Create a segment from the rich user profile, from Smart Deep Link analytics as a conversion segment, or from push campaign analytics as a re-targeting segment.

  • Lifetime value visibility

See each user's lifetime value, the total revenue from their purchases, on the profile and use it as a filter to separate high-value customers.

  • CSV export and import

Export all user data to CSV in one click, or import lists, so audiences can move into the other systems your team uses.

How it works

How Audiences works

  1. 1

    Integrate the SDK

Once the AppBoost SDK is in your app, users are detected across your platforms and profiles start building automatically.

  2. 2

    Explore profiles and the timeline

Open user profiles to check attributes, events and lifetime value, and confirm the data matches what you expect.

  3. 3

    Define the criteria

Combine filters on install date, last seen, LTV, last event and custom events or attributes to describe the group.

  4. 4

    Save as past-behavior or live

Choose a past-behavior segment for a fixed look-back, or a live segment that keeps membership current.

  5. 5

    Target the segment

Use it in campaigns and journeys, sync it to ad networks or Mailchimp, or export it to CSV.

Who it is for

Who uses Audiences

For marketing managers

Build the exact audience for a campaign yourself, and reuse it across channels, journeys and paid media.

  • Create segments without a data request
  • Reuse one segment in push, email, SMS and journeys
  • Sync segments to ad networks and Mailchimp
  • Spot high-value users by lifetime value

For product managers

Inspect individual behavior and cohorts built on the same events and attributes your app already sends.

  • Per-user timeline from first install
  • Segments on system and custom events
  • Live membership for time-sensitive flows
  • CSV export for analysis outside AppBoost

Use cases

Audiences use cases

  • 01

    Dormant user win-back

Create a live segment of users who have not launched the app for ten days and send them a re-engagement message.

  • 02

    High-value customer program

Filter by LTV and number of orders to find loyal customers and give them a separate offer.

  • 03

    Campaign follow-up

Turn a push campaign's analytics into a re-targeting segment of users who opened but did not convert.

  • 04

    Link conversion audience

Create a conversion segment from Smart Deep Link analytics to re-target users who arrived through a specific link.

Frequently asked questions

Audiences FAQ

What is the difference between past-behavior and live segments?
Past-behavior segments group users by actions they have already taken, such as launching the app in the last ten days. Live segments are monitored continuously and add or remove users the moment their behavior or properties match your criteria.
What can I filter users by?
You can filter by app install date, last seen, LTV, last event and other user attributes, including custom attributes you send from the SDK. Criteria can combine actions taken, actions not taken and profile properties, such as city or acquisition source.
Where can I create a segment?
You can create segments from the rich user profile using filters, from Smart Deep Link analytics as a conversion segment, and from rich push campaign analytics as a re-targeting segment. Saved segments are then available for targeting.
Do I need engineering work to use Audiences?
The AppBoost SDK must be installed first, which takes 5-10 minutes for most mobile platforms. Profiles then build automatically from system events and attributes, and marketers create segments in the dashboard without further code.
How does it connect to CDP, automation and remarketing?
The CDP layer supplies events and attributes, Audiences turns them into segments, and Marketing Automation and Remarketing use those segments. Automation journeys start from segments, and Remarketing syncs them to ad networks and Mailchimp.
Can I export my user data?
Yes. You can export all user data to CSV in one click and import lists as CSV. Campaign analytics can also be exported to Excel or CSV, so audience and campaign data can be analyzed outside AppBoost.
