Overview

The problem

A new sending domain is treated as a spammer

Mailbox providers distrust domains and IPs with no history. Send a large campaign from a cold domain and it lands in spam or is blocked, wasting the campaign and damaging the reputation you need later.

Capabilities

What Email Marketing includes

  • Transactional email by API

Trigger order updates and other one-to-one messages from your own systems through the API, using the same channel that carries your campaigns.

  • Bulk campaigns

Send one email to a chosen audience in a single campaign, for promotions, product announcements, content and feedback requests.

  • Automation emails

Use email as a step in a marketing automation flow triggered by user behavior, so follow-ups go out without manual sending.

  • Bring your own provider

Connect Amazon SES or any SMTP account. Enter the details from your vendor under Communication Channels and start sending.

  • Dedicated sending subdomain

Use a subdomain reserved for marketing email, such as mail.brand.com. Keeping it separate protects the reputation of your main domain.

  • Email warming service

Establish sender reputation before bulk sends. Sending is auto-managed at 50-100 emails per day, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup included.

  • Deep-linked emails

Add links that open a specific screen inside your mobile app, so an email click continues the journey instead of ending on a web page.

  • Templates and reporting

Build responsive emails in a drag-and-drop editor, personalize them with customer fields, and track opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes.

How it works

How Email Marketing works

  1. 1

    Pick your sender and vendor

Decide the sending email address and choose Amazon SES or SMTP. Appgain account managers can also arrange email packages.

  2. 2

    Set up a marketing subdomain

Create a subdomain such as mail.brand.com and point its DNS records to the Appgain system if you use the warming service.

  3. 3

    Warm the sender

Ask your account manager for the warming service. It sends 50-100 emails per day while your domain builds trust with mailbox providers.

  4. 4

    Connect the channel

Open Project Settings, then Communication Channels, then Email. Select your vendor and enter the account details you received from it.

  5. 5

    Send and automate

Start with bulk campaigns and transactional messages by API, then add email steps to your automation flows.

Who it is for

Who uses Email Marketing

For marketing managers

You want campaigns that land in the inbox and lead customers to the next action, without asking IT to touch DNS every time.

  • Warming service protects new sending domains
  • Bulk and automated email from one place
  • Personalized content from customer fields
  • Opens, clicks and bounces tracked per campaign

For product managers

You need transactional email that engineering can call, and marketing email that does not put your main domain at risk.

  • Transactional emails sent through the API
  • Your own Amazon SES or SMTP account
  • Separate subdomain keeps the main domain safe
  • Deep links return users to a screen in the app

Use cases

Email Marketing use cases

  • 01

    Launching a new sending domain

Use the warming service before your first large campaign, so mailbox providers see gradual, consistent sending from the new subdomain.

  • 02

    Order and account updates

Send transactional messages by API from your order system, with the same vendor and settings as your marketing email.

  • 03

    Behavior-triggered follow-ups

Add an email step to an automation flow that fires when a user acts, or fails to act, in your app.

Frequently asked questions

Email Marketing FAQ

Which sending providers does AppBoost email support?
AppBoost sends email through Amazon SES or SMTP. You enter the account details from your vendor under Project Settings, Communication Channels, Email. Appgain account managers can also arrange email packages if you prefer not to bring your own account.
What kinds of email can I send?
Three kinds: transactional emails triggered by API, bulk email campaigns, and marketing automation emails that send as part of a behavior-based flow. All use the same configured vendor and sending address.
What is email warming and do I need it?
Warming gradually builds the reputation of a new sending domain or IP by starting with small volumes. Appgain runs it as a service at 50-100 emails per day with SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup. It is recommended before bulk sending from a new domain.
What do I need to prepare for the warming service?
You set up a subdomain, for example mail.brand.com, and point its DNS records to the Appgain system. Gmail SMTP is supported. Google Workspace is not included. Request the service through your Appgain account manager.
How long does email setup take?
Connecting a vendor takes only the settings step: select the vendor and enter its account details. The longer part is preparing the subdomain and warming the sender, which happens gradually by design because volume increases over time.
How does email work with other AppBoost channels?
Email sits beside push, web push, SMS and WhatsApp in the Omni-channels area. Marketing automation can send email, SMS, app push and web push from the same flow, and emails can carry deep links into your app.
